Construction Manager andConstruction Engineering Services

We can Provide engineering services to the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) with review of shop drawings, material certifications, test reports, field reports, construction methods and work procedure submittals, working drawings, and other engineering services.

  • REVIEW SHOP DRAWINGS: Provide support services to DDOT with review of shop drawings, calculations, material samples and certifications,  laboratory test reports, and other submittals (bridge erection, prefabricated bridge elements, etc.) for the project, and by stamp or other means indicating the adequacy and accuracy of the documents and that they have been reviewed for compliance with contract drawings and specifications. All materials presented to the Consultant for review shall be properly logged, documented, stamped and returned to the DDOT Project Engineer with recommendations for action.  Review working drawings and calculations and other temporary and permanent design and calculation submittals for acceptance. All computation works and design drawings of components to be prepared by the contractor will be signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer registered prior to submission for review by BD&Z and will review the computations and drawings to insure the general compliance of the submittals for their intended use according to the plans and specification and that they are in accordance with the generally accepted practice for this type of work. Perform review of the shop drawings, including but not limited to Structural Steel, temporary and final bridge erection, prefabricated bridge deck, superstructure and substructure details, Structural Concrete, Reinforcement Steel, Bearings, Joints, approach slab reinforcing details and layout, permanent utility supports, Drainage details at bridge joints, Traffic and Pedestrian Railings, steel girder details, bridge fence, concrete parapets, stone masonry repair details, concrete overlay plan and details,  Materials, Paint and Welding, concrete median barrier details, sign structure submittals, and other submittals.  Review as determined by the Project Engineer some test reports and certifications concerning materials required under the Contract. Verify that all materials meet the contract requirements, unless DDOT expressly waives such requirements.
  • CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES: Attend project progress meetings as determined by the Project Engineer and provide general support, including necessary field visits, attendance at construction briefing meetings, consultation and engineering services in resolving field construction problems and responding to RFIs; review change orders and provide design input when requested by DDOT. Review and provide engineering solutions to the Contractor’s Request for Information including Value Engineering Change proposals (VECPs); in addition, review bearing capacity and geotechnical investigations and boring logs and provide footing elevations with the necessary adjustments.  Services shall not include providing support to correct errors, deficiencies and omissions in the contract plans deemed to be the Consultant’s responsibility.
  • MATERIAL SUBMITTAL REVIEWS: Review construction material submittals for conformance to the plans and the contract documents. Perform review of material submittals, including but not limited to structural steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, joint and drainage, formwork, prefabricated superstructure and substructure bridge elements, bearings, anchor bolts, bolts, non-shrink grout, etc.
  • ORGANIZATION: Prepare and submit, for approval of the Engineer, an organization chart, showing the Consultant’s proposed lines of authority in order to carry out the assigned work, including the job classifications and salaries of staff personnel and any subsequent changes shall be subject to the prior written approval of the Engineer. Designate a representative who will implement the Quality Assurance/Quality Control. Provide work of professional quality, technical accuracy, and the coordination of all assigned work and other services furnished by the Consultant, including the work of joint-venture firms and sub-consultants.  Correct or revise any errors or deficiencies in his assigned work and other services without additional compensation. Perform the work in a cost effective manner by matching skills of personnel with the work assignments. Shop drawings for minor corrections will be approved as noted.
